Dr. Dan Skaggs
The Professional Side
Dr. Dan Skaggs, DDS, brings a wealth of clinical experience, advanced training, and a commitment to comprehensive patient care to Normandy Lake Dentistry. Originally from Inglewood, California, Dr. Skaggs attended Sacramento State and UC Davis before earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Creighton University School of Dentistry.
During dental school, Dr. Skaggs achieved the highest national ranking in the Operative section of the National Dental Boards Part II and served as Class President. His clinical interests include diagnostics, operative dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and cosmetic dentistry.
Throughout his career, Dr. Skaggs has continued to expand his expertise through advanced education in restorative and cosmetic dentistry, implant dentistry, minimally invasive dentistry, Invisalign®, CEREC® CAD/CAM technology, iTero® digital scanning, and advanced occlusion. He has completed training in Branemark All-on-4, All-on-X, and zygomatic restorative concepts, as well as numerous cosmetic dentistry courses through the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
Before becoming a dentist, Dr. Skaggs spent 11 years as a Safeway store manager, developing strong leadership and people-focused skills that continue to influence the way he cares for his patients today. He believes in being reliable, honest, and dedicated to every patient he serves.
The Personal Side
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Skaggs’ greatest joy comes from his family. He is married and the proud father of two daughters and one son, and a grandfather to three grandchildren.
Having grown up with a brother with special needs, Dr. Skaggs developed a deep appreciation for community and inclusion. His involvement with the Special Olympics alongside his brother was a particularly meaningful experience and remains something he looks back on with great joy.
When he is not practicing dentistry, Dr. Skaggs enjoys shooting sporting clays, fishing, taking long walks on the beach with his wife, and spending quality time with his family. He speaks English and some Spanish.
For Dr. Skaggs, dentistry is about more than clinical care—it is about building genuine relationships and making every patient feel comfortable, respected, and cared for.
