All-On-4 Dental Implants
All-on-4 dental implants, also known as implant supported dentures, are an effective way to restore missing teeth on both your upper and lower arches.
What are All-On-4 Dental Implants?
All-on-4 dental implants are an alternative to dentures or full-mouth dental implants. Unlike traditional dentures, All-on-4 implants are fixed in place, offering a permanent, secure fit that enhances the appearance and function of your teeth. They require only four implants per jaw, compared to traditional implants that require eight to ten implants per jaw. The All-on-4 technique reduces the need for bone grafting, and the implants act just like natural teeth, making this procedure quicker, easier, and more comfortable for patients.

At Normandy Lake Dentistry, dental implants are our specialty. Here’s a closer look at the All-on-4 process.
- Consultation and Custom Treatment Planning: Your dental team will assess your oral health using precise imaging technology and discuss your dental history to determine if you’re a candidate for implants. Then we’ll develop a personalized treatment plan that outlines next steps, timeline, and any preparatory work required.
- Preparatory Procedures and Implant Placement: If needed, your dentist may perform a bone graft or tooth extraction to ensure a strong foundation before placing your implants. Following preparation, four titanium implants are precisely placed. Sedation options are available to keep you comfortable.
- Healing and Attaching the Prothesis: After your dentist places the implants, you need to wait several months for the implants to integrate with the bone. During this time you’ll use a temporary prosthesis. Once the process is complete, you will return to the dentist to have your custom-made permanent prosthetic teeth attached to the implants.
- Follow-Up Care: Schedule follow-up visits, so your dentist can monitor your implants and ensure everything is setting well. We’ll provide you with instructions about how to care for your implants to ensure their longevity.

A discussion about All-On-4 Dental Implants with Dr. Lee

-
How do I clean all-on-4 dental implants?
Just like natural teeth, daily cleaning of all the surfaces above and below the gumline and regular dental check-ups are key to preventing any disease.
A manual or electric toothbrush with soft bristles can be used to clean the implants.
-
Is the All-on-4 procedure painful?
Most patients experience minimal discomfort during the procedure, as it is performed under local anesthesia or sedation. Some mild swelling and soreness may occur afterward, but it is manageable with pain medication and typically subsides within a few days.
-
How long do All-on-4 implants last?
With proper care, All-on-4 dental implants can last a lifetime. The prosthetic teeth may need replacement after 10–15 years due to normal wear, but the implants themselves are designed to be a long-term solution.
