Meet Dr. Sushma Chaudhari
Dr. Sushma Chaudhari was born in India and moved to the US with her family in her early teens. She is passionate about helping people and giving back to the community. Coming from humble beginnings, dental care can be a luxury for some people, so she has always been passionate about volunteering and giving back in any way she can.
The Professional Side
Dr. Sushma Chaudhari had a strong science background growing up with her dad having his masters in Physics and her mom being a GP in India. She always knew she wanted to major in Biology but didn’t know what she wanted to do with her degree until she shadowed a dentist in college. She loves how hands-on dentistry is and has always liked working with people.
Dr. Chaudhari graduated from LECOM School of Dental Medicine with training in restorative, prosthodontics and oral surgery. She then graduated with a masters from the USF Morsani college of medicine. As an undergraduate researcher at USF, she did research in recombinant proteins among extremophiles which are organisms that survive in extreme environments under high pressure and temperature.
She graduated from University of South Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Cell and Molecular Biology and a minor in Public Health. Dr. Chaudhari stayed at USF for another year and got her MS in Medical Sciences after a rigorous 1-year training in
Biomedical Science courses. After that, she went on to get her DMD from LECOM School of dental medicine.
The Personal Side
On her days off you will find Dr. Chaudhari hanging out with her 2 siblings. They like going to the movies and traveling. She likes to cook different cuisines including Greek, Indian, Mexican, Asian and Italian, and bake new recipes from creme brulee to baklava. Dr. Sushma Chaudhari is also a bookworm. Some of her favorite genres are sci-fi, thriller and historical fiction.
